Pakistan High Commission donates books to UNISSA
THE Pakistan High Commission in Brunei Darussalam handed over 66 books to Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) for its Pakistan Book Corner at its library yesterday. The books covering different topics such as Islamic studies, Pakistani international relations, culture, politics, economy, history, prominent figures as well as a number of academic books, were handed over by the Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam Ahmed Ali Sirohey to UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal. Dr Haji Norarfan said the contribution will help UNISSA’s library in expanding its reading material and collections for public’s reference particularly UNISSA’s students. He also looks forward to expand cooperation with the Pakistan High Commission and shared his visit to the International Islamic University of Islamabad adding that he hopes to further strengthening cooperation with the university. Ahmed said the regular book donations reflect the strong relation and cooperation between the Pakistan High Commission and UNISSA. He hoped the contribution will help students learn new ideas and views and said the books are are aimed at fostering the love for reading among Bruneian youth and to inculcate closer ties between the two countries. “It opens up the beauty of cultural diversity and its benefit to humanity. The research and learning practices of other countries can be known through books,” he added. UNISSA has received over 200 books from the Pakistan High Commission since 2016.
